Inspired by a large chimney in the extension, the design is a patchwork of overlapping squares which form areas of cedec gravel, sandstone setts, box hedging, and beech cubes which encircle a central raised square grass lawn. A small patio area laid with sawn sandstone paving is semi-enclosed by a large seating base made of rendered block which offers views across the garden.
